Backyard gamers use their creative juices to construct close-to-home battle fields for an afternoon of physically demanding competition.
What is Airsoft?
Airsoft guns use an air source to propel 6mm plastic BBs. Airsoft produces low energy [roughly 300-500 feet per second depending on the level of equipment] and is manufactured with authentic military assault weapon design. The low energy level makes Airsoft the perfect choice for force-on-force combat that demands exceptional quality equipment, detailed design and realistic function.
Where and When did Airsoft originate?
Airsoft began in Japan in the 1970s to provide civilians with access to recreational shooting sports activities in a country where civilian gun ownership was illegal. The United States and Europe experienced a growing Airsoft following in the 1990s.
Why is Airsoft such a fast growing shooting sport in and outside of the USA?
When you consider the rapidly growing and diversified groups of Airsoft users as outlined above, it becomes clear that the Airsoft shooting sports audience is captivated by the opportunities that exist to safely engage in realistic battle simulations. Whether your Airsoft squads are close friends, strangers who meet at Airsoft event sites or individuals involved in tactical training exercises, force-on-force combat will test you physically and strategically. The more you engage in Airsoft activities the greater your muscle memory, coordination and skill development. The pace of battle and potential of being hit [taken out of battle] will test your fitness and challenge your competitive nature. There is an increasing number of Airsoft gaming sites with some very elaborate props and battlefield layouts, which attracts the most discerning Airsoft gamers. Like so many other "extreme" sports, Airsoft is not for the faint of heart. Airsoft can be as intense as you make it, as tactically sophisticated as you are or simply a fun-filled and exciting sport to bond with your friends.
